Orange Watercolour 'Agate' Earrings
An Interpretation Of Agate
Agate is a common rock formation often found in volcanic areas, with chalcedony and quartz as its primary components and appears in a wide variety of colours. This is an interpretation of the stone in polymer clay.
Translucent polymer clay has pastels and mica powder added and the random pattern is produced by manipulating and cutting the clay before it is cut into the finished shapes and heat cured. The pieces are then sealed with a resin finish which enhances the patterns.
The cut out earrings have a total length of 6cm and are 3cm wide; the hexagon drop earrings are 4.7cm in total length and are 2.7cm wide; the oval shape is 5.5cm long and 2cm wide; the rounded triangle shape is 5.5cm long and 2.8cm wide. The studs for these are 1.5cm diameter and they have stainless steel ear posts and clear plastic back stoppers. The stud and drop are linked with a copper colour jump ring.
